As amputee role players are common in medical training scenarios, most of these pieces are custom made for each individual amputee using a custom fit silicone liner to recreate their amputation.
In contrast, the slip-on sleeves are meant to simulate a large injury that would warrant the loss of a limb (partial amputation) and are meant to be worn on non-amputee role players. Both types of sleeves can be rigged with tubing and pumps to simulate an arterial bleed.
